Argentum Goes Large, Expands Data in ‘26 Largest Providers Report

Argentum said its expanded look at the 150-largest senior living providers has new data on operational resident capacity and geographic reach, among other areas.

Argentum’s “2026 Largest Providers Report” has expanded its reach, giving not only data on the 150-largest senior living providers but also operational resident capacity, geographic reach, international operations, ownership structures, leadership representation, and changes within the provider landscape.


“For years, the ‘Largest Providers’ list has served as an important industry benchmark, documenting the scale and reach of senior living operators across the United States. This year’s report goes further, pairing the foundational provider rankings with a broader collection of data and perspectives that illustrate how the industry is structured, where it is operating, and how it continues to evolve,” said Stephanie Robert, vice president, marketing and communications, Argentum.


Largest of the Large

Top-line numbers from the report show the following as the Top 10 largest providers, which counts assisted living, independent living, and memory care units.


1 - Brookdale Senior Living - 47,085 units

2 - Discovery Senior Living – 46,074 units

3 - LCS - 30,957 units

4 - Erickson Senior Living - 26,425 units

5 - Sunrise Senior Living - 22,082 units

6 - Atria Management Company - 21,215 units

7 - StoryPoint Group - 15,754 units

8 - Sinceri Senior Living - 15,333 units 

9 - Cogir Senior Living - 13,930 units

10 - Oakmont Senior Living - 11,258 units


Year-on-Year Comparisons

Argentum pointed to some noteworthy comparisons from the 2025 to 2026 reports:


-              Total Units moved from 651,111 in 2025 to 652,201 in 2026 (up 1,090)

-              Assisted Living Units edged down from 282,799 to 282,187 (down 612)

-              Independent Living Units rose from 257,046 to 258,984 (up 1,938)

-              Memory Care Units rose from 108,314 to 111,001 (up 2,687)

-              Total U.S. Communities increased from 6,044 to 6,147 (up 103)


Biggest Upward Movers

For the biggest upward rank movers from last year to this year, Argentum said these included:


-              Experience Senior Living from 107 to 52 (55 places)

-              Allegro Living, LLC from 83 to 29 (54 places)

-              Tutera Senior Living and Health Care from 71 to 31 (40 places)

-              IntegraCare from 112 to 77 (35 places)

-              Inspirit Senior Living from 104 to 69 (35 places)

-              Sinceri Senior Living from 37 to 8 (29 places)

-              Heritage Communities from 101 to 83 (18 places)

-              Legend Senior Living from 36 to 22 (14 places)

-              Savant Senior Living from 121 to 107 (14 places)

-              Solera Senior Living from 90 to 76 (14 places)
