Mark Parkinson, CEO of Park Place Live, lays out his reasoning for why the assisted living sector will not be regulated by the federal government, upending the opinions of many in the long-term space who believe federal regulation is a distinct possibility.
In a video on the Park View segment of the Park Place platform, he says if there ever was going to be such regulation, the time certainly would have been after the 2020 elections when Democrats secured control of all three power centers (White House, Senate, House), and at a time of great distress with the pandemic.
“I just don't think there will ever be federal regulation,” Parkinson said. “Now, why is that a controversial opinion? It's a controversial opinion because for the 30 years that I've been involved in assisted living, the smartest people in the room have always said it's not a matter of if but when AL will be regulated at the federal level.”
After much rumination, he has come to the belief that it is not so.
