SNFs Add 2,400 Jobs in March; Revisions to Previous Months Revised Up

U.S. jobs data for March showed a much-larger-gain-than-expected nationally of 178,000 jobs and the skilled nursing sector helped the cause by adding 2,400 jobs to put employment in the sector at 1,577,500.

U.S. jobs data released on Friday for the month of March showed a much-larger-gain-than-expected nationally of 178,000 jobs and the skilled nursing sector helped the cause by adding 2,400 jobs for the month to put employment in the sector at 1,577,500, the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) said in its monthly report.


The national unemployment rate declined from 4.4 percent in February to 4.3 percent in March.


The raw numbers for SNF employment were also revised upwards for the sector for February and January, with 1,000 more SNF jobs added in February than the previous report, and 300 more SNF jobs for January.


Year-to-year employment in SNFs stood 39,500 higher in March 2026 vs. March 2025.


All numbers are seasonally adjusted.
