CMS Makes Corrections to Hospice Wage Index Rule

CMS has published corrections to the Fiscal Year 2027 Hospice Wage Index Final Rule in the Federal Register after telling providers about the problem on Sept. 1.
What was wrong is now supposedly right. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has published corrections to the Fiscal Year 2027 Hospice Wage Index Final Rule in the Federal Register.
The agency had informed providers about the snafu at the start of September and now has updated the wage index standardization factors and the national payment rates for each level of hospice care.
“The provisions in this correction document are effective as if they had been included in the final rule that appeared in the August 3, 2026, Federal Register. Accordingly, the corrections are effective October 1, 2026,” CMS said.
