Incite’s Drive to Fulfill the Workforce Needs of its Members

Mark Parkinson sits down with Incite Strategic Partners President Michael Dragone and SnapCare’s Jeff Richards to examine the collaboration between the GPO and contingent staffing company.
In a new video hosted by Mark Parkinson, the Park Place CEO sits down with Incite Strategic Partners Co-Founder and President Michael Dragone and SnapCare’s Jeff Richards to examine the unique collaboration between the long-term care sector’s leading Group Purchasing Organization (GPO) and the Atlanta-based contingent staffing company.
Incite is the exclusive GPO for the American Health Care Association/National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL) and is in nearly 3,000 LTC buildings across the country.
“Michael, when I think about a GPO, I think about you selling food and incontinence products and gloves and stuff like that. I don't really think about workforce solutions,” Parkinson asks in the video.
Dragone answers by pointing out Incite’s role in the marketplace is to fulfill the needs of its members, and one of the leading needs is workforce solutions.
Workforce Needs
That is where SnapCare enters the picture.
Founded in 2017, Richards said SnapCare imagines a smarter, better way to provide contingent staffing for healthcare institutions of any kind.
“Three years into our journey, the pandemic hit, which obviously disrupted everything in every space. But I do think disproportionately in senior care and skilled nursing facilities that suffered during that period,” he said.
As a result, there was an increased utilization of contingent labor in facilities, greater than ever before. But Richards said post-pandemic the requirements for such labor needed to balance out and become more strategic.
As part of its game plan for its clients, SnapCare’s first order of business is to narrow down the number of agencies that are being used. “Often times, the PBJ data is off, maybe off by one-quarter. So, you're looking backwards no matter what,” Richards said.
“We do an analysis with them, a consultation on total workforce management, like all the internal staff you might have on overtime, how they recruit, retain staff, and then how they're managing agencies,” he added.
In the interview, Incite and SnapCare elaborate on their partnership and what makes it unique. “The agencies often have a kind of an adversarial relationship with the provider and they're competing with each other. And we want to reimagine that so that they are in a strategic partnership. And that includes the ability to hire those staff if they're working well,” Richards said.
Good Works
Parkinson noted that beyond partnerships with companies like SnapCare, the work Incite does in being an excellent GPO is only surpassed by the contributions the organization makes to the advocacy efforts of the long-term care sector.
“You are selling really good products and services to providers at a lower price than they can normally get and then contributing millions of dollars back into the state association for the national association’s lobbying efforts. It's a true win-win,” Parkinson tells Dragone.
