LeadingAge Head to Step Down Effective March 31, 2027

After 10 years on the job, LeadingAge President and CEO Katie Smith Sloan will step down, effective March 31, 2027, the organization announced on Sept. 14.

In a message shared with staff and members today, Sloan said:

“It has been the honor of my life to serve LeadingAge for the past 10 years as president and CEO, and for 10 years before that as chief operating officer. I have been privileged to work alongside talented colleagues who go above and beyond every day to advocate for and support our members. I have been inspired by the dedication and creativity of a membership that works tirelessly to ensure older people can live their best lives. Our vision of an America that values older adults and those who serve them has never been more important. I step down knowing that LeadingAge stands on a solid foundation, with a brilliant and important future ahead.”

The association’s board, led by chair Christie Hinrichs, president and CEO of Frasier, has formed a search committee. Details about the search and a timeline will be forthcoming.

“The committee will undertake a thorough process, honoring Katie’s legacy and positioning the organization for continued success in service to our members and our shared mission,” said Hinrichs. “We thank Katie for her remarkable contributions to LeadingAge and to our field.”
