On State-Ments, you will find a trove of data unlike anything else readily available in the long-term care sector, replete with a state map comparing vital skilled nursing sector information across the country.

In the video explaining State-Ments, Mark Parkinson, CEO, Park Place Live, and Marc Zimmet, president and CEO, Zimmet Healthcare Services Group, discuss why the data and way in which it is presented across a map is so valuable to skilled nursing providers.

“In my mind, it has a couple of functions and there's probably other things that you'll figure out, but one is it allows you to look and see how everybody else is doing in the state on various metrics so that you can benchmark yourself against what's happening in the state,” Parkinson said.

“The other thing is if you're thinking about going to a state or investing in a state, you're able to see some pretty cool information about what's happening there.”

Zimmet said State-Ments “is almost like a wake-up call when you see in the way this data is represented, the differences among states on things like baseline occupancy or Medicare share.”

The sophistication level of the data is as deep as you want to explore, delving into state-to-state comparisons of the percentage of agency use and Medicare reimbursable bad debt, as examples.

The latest additions to State-Ments is the “State-by-State” series that debuted in early March and is hosted by Mark Parkinson. The series has broken new ground in examining how good or bad a state is for SNFs to do business.

The series assesses the state (the first is Illinois for March) in four ways: an interview with the state association executive, an interview with a leading provider in the state, the State Regulatory Index breakdown of the state by Steven Littlehale, and the determination of a reimbursement grade for the state using a new scoring system devised by Zimmet.
