Transcript Generated by AI 00:00 Hey, it's Mark Parkinson back with Park Place 00:02 and really happy today because we're going to talk to Michael Sciacca at 00:06 Reimbursement Reimagine about what you do when you lose your MDS nurse. 00:10 Obviously not a good day, but Mike, welcome to Park Place. 00:15 Thank you. 00:15 Thank you for having me. 00:16 And it sounds like Reimbursement Reimagine has a solution for that. 00:19 So somebody loses their MDS nurse, all of a sudden their billing's in doubt. 00:23 What, what do they do? 00:24 Yeah, we usually called in like a panic, you know, and, 00:28 and we're usually get an assessment of, of what's going on and you know, 00:33 where we have to the staff to kind of take over almost immediately, 00:37 get people caught up on assessments. 00:40 And that's really one, one of the biggest issues is that they're 00:43 delayed on staffing even after a call out. 00:45 They think the the organizations think they can kind of plug, plug around, 00:49 but then ultimately find that they they need some, some support. 00:52 And so you Mike, Reimbursement Reimagined, what you're a leader of , 00:56 as well as in the Zimmet organization, you've got 42 MDS nurses to plug into 01:00 these situations. 01:01 That's correct. 01:02 So somebody calls you, you don't need to go out and recruit 01:04 somebody. 01:04 You can, you can have somebody helping them that 01:06 day. 01:07 Yeah, correct. 01:07 That day. 01:08 And you know, they're, they're all experienced MDS folks. 01:11 So there's no oversight needed for for the organization. 01:15 And, you know, that's one of the things I think that we 01:18 provide to larger organizations is that, you know, 01:21 when they do have an MDS coordinator that is either removed or leaves or what have 01:25 you, that they don't have to pull their 01:27 corporate team members away from what they're doing to plug that that vacancy. 01:31 So we can kind of slide right in. 01:33 Now, almost as bad as not having an MDS nurse 01:35 at all, maybe in some ways even worse, is if you have an MDS nurse that's just 01:39 not getting the job done and it's creating issues. 01:41 And I think you have a solution for that, too. 01:43 Yeah. 01:43 I mean that, that we, we try to find out that the organization 01:47 usually finds out that right away when either delayed on assessments or they 01:52 have survey issues related to MDS or care planning or what have you, 01:56 or the metrics just aren't, you know, stacking up. 02:00 So, you know, we, we can come in and we use technology a 02:04 lot. 02:04 So, you know, our foundation from Zimmet all the way 02:07 down to, to Reimbursement Reimagined and, and the Connect suite of apps is we, 02:12 we take a data-driven approach. 02:14 We can assess how a facility is doing compared to their peers and can give kind 02:18 of, you know, that insight as to what we can do to help. 02:22 So if an owner isn't sure if they have a problem with their billing or with the 02:25 MDS nurse, what are some of the signs they should be 02:27 looking for? 02:28 Yeah, like survey tags is 1. 02:30 So that's one. Being, you know, weeks to months out of compliance on 02:35 assessment completion. 02:38 And then just, you know, statistical data analysis on, 02:42 on performance and whether that's QMs or, or Medicare PPD or case mix, you know, 02:48 the, the signs are usually, you know, pretty, pretty evident. 02:52 And you know, I think that that's one of the, 02:55 the areas that we from the Reimbursement Reimagined side can kind of provide is 02:59 kind of that benchmarking piece. 03:01 You know, this is where you're at, this is where you probably should be. 03:05 And how do we close that gap. And what kind of improvement have you 03:08 seen in, in rates? 03:10 So just on the Medicare side, you know, typically you know, you can expect, 03:15 you know, $40 to $50 per day with just accurate 03:18 capture. 03:19 And, and a lot of it is maybe not just the 03:21 captures the education of the rest of the team members. 03:24 I have a VP of education, I have a VP of compliance on my side that 03:28 works with our MDS team to make sure the assessments are, are, 03:32 are accurate and then to educate the facility team members on, 03:36 on what documentation needs to be put in place to capture those areas. 03:41 So I think that that's kind of that's the comprehensiveness that we that we try to 03:45 strive for. 03:46 Yeah, that's great. 03:47 Well, those are impressive numbers and terrific 03:49 service that you're offering. 03:51 Yeah, thank you. 03:52 Great. 03:53 Appreciate it. 03:53 Mike, thanks for being here with us today. 03:55 And obviously, if you're having trouble with your MDS 03:58 nurse, you don't need to have an opening need to 04:01 be filled. 04:01 If you need improvement Reimbursement Reimagined can solve that for you. 04:05 Thanks to them for sponsoring Park Place and thank you for your continued support.
