Transcript Generated by AI 00:01 Mark Parkinson back with Park Place and I am very excited today to announce that we 00:05 have a new thought partner, Reliant, who will be our thought partner in 00:09 therapy. 00:10 And you might ask why Reliant? 00:12 And the answer is very clear to us. 00:15 First of all, the importance of therapy. 00:18 The recognition by the healthcare system that patients in nursing homes could be 00:23 rehabbed and sent home in the 80s and 90s and early 2000s completely changed our 00:29 sector. 00:30 It took us from a place where we were just taking care of people in the last 00:34 days and months of their lives to a much more vibrant provider group where we were 00:39 getting people better and sending them home. 00:42 Therapy has been a key part of the success of the sector for the last 20 or 00:46 30 years, and it will be for the next 30, 40, 00:48 50 years maybe hopefully even longer than that. 00:50 And so it was critical that we have a thought partner on Park Place on therapy. 00:55 When we thought about who should we seek and who would be great, 00:58 Reliant was the first that came to mind. 01:00 And that is because for decades it has been providing great clinical outcomes 01:05 across the country. 01:07 It has a nationwide footprint. 01:09 It's all over the country. 01:11 It's a great employer. 01:12 And it's also not only helping patients, it's also helping providers with a great 01:18 clinical program and PDPM program that do all of that. 01:22 On top of that, it's a great company and it completely 01:25 matches the values of what we're trying to achieve here on Park Place. 01:29 So we're thrilled to have Reliant as a partner, 01:32 and we're here today with Norman Abdallah, who was the CEO of Reliant. 01:37 Norman, congratulations on the incredible success 01:39 that Reliant has had and thank you very much for being a thought partner on Park 01:43 Place. 01:44 You bet. 01:45 Excited to be here, Mark, and with the impact that you've made on 01:49 our industry, to me, this is very special to be on a video 01:53 with you so well. 01:54 Thank. 01:55 Thank you so much for that. 01:58 Reliant was recently recognized by Time magazine as not just one of the best 02:02 companies in the long term care space. 02:04 It was recognized as one of the very best private companies across America. 02:09 Tell us what it is that set Reliant apart to get that incredible recognition. 02:15 Yeah. 02:15 So the two key measures were employment satisfaction, 02:19 engagement and company impact. 02:22 So if you look at the employee satisfaction engagement, 02:25 I look at it a little bit differently is the top of it is our team and that's 02:31 driven by our culture with the the North Star being care matters, 02:35 which we live and breathe everyday and that's built off of our values. 02:40 So really looking at the employment, engagement, becoming the employer, 02:45 employer choice and that that is really driven by our culture as an organization. 02:51 Turnover 2 years ago was at 48%, today it's at 30%. 02:57 The top indicator and why employees come to work for you. 03:02 It's not pay, which is shocking. 03:05 It's do I have a friend that works with me and that really speaks to the team. 03:10 And when you take care of the team and going back to what you open with 03:15 impacting our patients and impacting our our clients and partners. 03:19 It has to be driven by team first. 03:21 Because if, if they're focused, they're happy and they, 03:25 they participate in our clinical programs, which they all do it, 03:30 it really impacts our patients in the last part of our lives and aiming to get 03:35 them home. 03:38 No, Norman, that's one of the things so exciting 03:40 about having Reliant as a thought partner, because as we talked to providers that 03:45 are featured on the website, this commitment to employees and to 03:49 culture is what they're doing with their businesses. 03:52 And it's exactly what you're doing with yours, 03:54 which is why it's such a great match. 03:56 I know that employee engagement was a big part of the time recognition. 04:00 How, how has your culture and some of the 04:02 programs that you've implemented contributed to all of that? 04:06 Yeah. 04:06 So when I tour and I try to get out and two are our stiffs regularly when I'm 04:12 traveling into a different city, I really talked to our therapist, 04:16 which is the tip of the spear. 04:18 And I get the feedback from them what we're doing. 04:21 Well, if they were CEO today, what would they do differently? 04:26 And what we're not doing very good. 04:27 And the feedback I, I have received is #1 is our, 04:32 what we call total rewards. 04:35 It's our benefits and what we do as an organization. 04:40 So our top three that we put in this is driven by our, 04:44 our therapist is a 401k match. 04:46 We spent $2 million over the last two years matching the 401k going after those 04:52 young therapists that are just coming out of college and doing tuition 04:57 reimbursement and that's critical as well. 05:00 So those are a couple of our programs that we have in place. 05:04 Development is also number one and this has been a part of Reliant for years and 05:10 years and years. 05:11 And the clinical team led by Amy Phipps has done an incredible job building 05:16 different programs that we have, one that we use for development, 05:20 advancement and recognition as our clinical ladder. 05:24 We have 5 different levels that our therapist can achieve and continue to 05:30 develop and focus on what they can do better in our gyms all the way up to a 05:36 master clinician that they can achieve. 05:39 And again, we recognize each and every step along 05:42 the way on our social media sites. 05:45 You know, I, I think this is so great. 05:47 And one of the benefits to the providers is that it, 05:51 you're solving their problems or challenges with, with rehab, you're, 05:56 you're a complete turnkey solution. 05:58 And because you're such a great employer, you have great confidence that you'll 06:02 have the therapist there and you'll be able to attract and retain the really 06:06 good therapist. 06:07 So what what are some of the strategies that you've used to to attract and retain 06:12 really good therapist? 06:15 Yeah. 06:15 So we do, we go out there and shop from the top of 06:19 the mountain. 06:20 Our total rewards programs, we really go into the clinical piece and 06:25 it's amazing the number of therapists that participate in our programs like 06:32 Model 10, No Patient Left behind where we do the 06:36 training. 06:36 Model 10 measures the outcome that we can share with hospitals and and our Smith 06:42 partners as well, which you know continues to drive people 06:46 in that we can take care of. 06:48 And that really makes our therapist a little proud because when they see those 06:53 outcomes and we post those on our social media site as well. 06:57 So I think it's, again, you know, getting down to the therapist and, 07:02 and measuring the outcomes, it not only drives the quality measures 07:06 of our, of our outcomes and our care that we give, 07:10 it's a sense of pride that our therapists have to be able to see that how through 07:16 the different measures that we look at. 07:19 Yeah, I, I mean, this is so great. 07:21 And again, it's so consistent with everything that 07:24 we talked about on the website, but you'd be, you know, it, it's, 07:28 it's really refreshing that when I talk with you about the very first thing you 07:32 want to talk about when we talk about your success, 07:35 it's your treatment of employees and how that translates into retention. 07:40 It translates into great quality outcome among patients. 07:43 It makes the hospitals confident, which increases the referrals to, to the, 07:47 to the buildings that you're in. 07:49 And it really does help explain a lot of your success. 07:52 Now, one final thing I want to touch on that's 07:54 exciting about the direction that Reliant is heading is that for for decades we 07:58 thought about you as a therapy provider in skilled nursing, 08:01 but it sounds like you're starting to expand beyond that. 08:03 Tell us a little bit about that. 08:05 Yeah, so we started senior living about a year 08:09 ago and really looked at the same way that Reliant was built 25 years ago. 08:15 You know, we out of the top 100, we're in 33% of the sniffs out there with 08:22 our clients. 08:23 We've had clients for 20 years. 08:26 So if you look at our first client base coming in, 08:29 we service a lot of the bigger providers like an A tree out there. 08:33 And it's really not because of the we, we just go in, 08:37 it's because our clinical programs again you know from Wellness activities that we 08:45 do. 08:46 And you know, we're in 50 right now and a year and 08:50 we'll finish the year in about 150 as well. 08:54 So we built a great team on that side and we're really excited about the 08:58 partnerships that we're in on the senior living space. 09:02 That's terrific. 09:03 Well, congratulations on everything that you've 09:05 accomplished in the past and what I know is going to be happening for many years 09:09 in the future. 09:10 We couldn't be more pleased to have you as a thought partner on the website as we 09:14 talk about therapy issues and the impact on long term care over the future. 09:18 It's great, Norman, to have you and your entire team aboard. 09:21 You bet. 09:22 Thanks so much, Mark. 09:23 Appreciate you bet and thank all of you for your continued support of Park Place.
